Ahead of the EFT World Summit 2027, Dr. Jim Coan — psychologist and neuroscientist at the University of Virginia — sits down with Dr. Leanne Campbell to discuss the areas of research that will inform his plenary presentation in May, 2027. He explains social baseline theory, and the nature of the attachment system as a regulatory mechanism in adults, and how his scientific research is highly complimentary to Sue Johnson's EFT. He describes the concept of "yielding," and how this term defines a dynamic in attachment research that has long been unnamed. He discusses the importance of his and Sue's handholding studies, and the important ways that their work overlapped to create a scientific explanation for what Sue witnessed in her practice, that formed the foundations of what EFT is.
