Giulia Altera is a Clinical and Forensic Psychologist and Psychotherapist, and an ICEEFT Certified Trainer, Supervisor, and Therapist in Emotionally Focused Therapy. She is co-founder of the EFT Italia Community and of EFA – Emotionally Focused Academy, and Director of the EFT North Italy Center. She serves as Chief Editor of the ICEEFT Newsletter.
Her clinical background spans forensic psychiatry, maximum-security prisons, addiction treatment, and complex trauma. Before specializing in EFT, she completed advanced training in Cognitive Behavioral Psychotherapy and holds a Master's degree in Criminology and Forensic Psychiatric Sciences from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, University of Genoa. She is an ISST Certified Schema Therapist, has trained extensively in the treatment of complex trauma and dissociative disorders with Dr. Kathy Steele (ISSTD), and has training in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) with Diana Fosha.
She offers therapy, supervision, and training in Italian, English, and Brazilian Portuguese.
In Brazil, she leads the development of EFT training and the consolidation of local clinical communities, and has contributed to EFT development in Portugal, Poland, Iran, and Ukraine. She teaches in postgraduate and specialization programs internationally, including PósArtmed, Instituto Wainer, CEFI, and ITPC in Brazil, and ACABS and Humanitas Consortium in Italy.
She has authored articles and book chapters on EFT and related topics, and has contributed to the translation of foundational EFT texts into Italian and Brazilian Portuguese.
