Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT) relies on accessing emotional experience, yet some clients struggle to express emotions verbally. This workshop demonstrates how nonverbal bodily signals—movement, posture, tension, and other implicit cues—can enhance attunement, safety, and emotional engagement. Participants will learn how to identify and work with embodied signals in-session, while also noticing their own bodily responses as therapists. This approach deepens EFIT’s impact by bringing emotion into the room through the body, supporting clients in accessing and transforming core emotional experience.

Learning outcomes:

Reflect on therapist bodily responses to improve emotional resonance and pacing

Identify nonverbal signals that guide attunement in EFIT sessions

Integrate embodied awareness to support emotional engagement and safety
